Point Loma LighthousesThese lighthouses were built to guide ships into San Diego harbor. Old Pt Loma lighthouse, the one on the left, is located high atop Point Loma. The view from this point is one that has to be seen to believed. All of San Diego is laid out at your feet. The newer Lighthouse is located closer to the shore and is the one in use today. |

| The beauty of this lighthouse can't be captured in any picture. It is located at York, Maine on a point of land that is really an island. There is a small walk bridge you have to use to get to it. As far as I know, it isn't open to the public. But, the view around the lighthouse and the point of land it set on is well worth the trip. The town has a very nice beach not far from the lighthouse. |
Cape Neddick Light |
| Located in Gloucester, MA. Gloucester is a fishing
city that also has a famous sculpture dedicated to those lost at
sea. More fishing history in this town than anyplace in America

Cape BlancoCape Blanco is the southernmost of Oregon's lights. It is also the oldest original tower in Oregon. The light was proposed in 1864. It takes some effort to drive to it and depending on conditions. It didn't work out for me this day and I never made it to this one. The fence was locked and it was so foggy I didn't know how much further it would be to walk to it. |
Coquille River Lighthouse,Also known as the Bandon Lighthouse; Bandon, OR Located along the southern coast of Oregon, this lighthouse is open to the public. Most of the working parts of the inside have been removed but the structure is intact and easily viewed. Along the north shore from this lighthouse is one of the largest drift wood piles I have ever seen. |
Umpqua River Lighthouse Winchester Bay, OregonThis is one of the best maintained lighthouses on either coast. It is located in a compound and as far as I know, not opened to the public. The area around the lighthouse is like a small park. Off to the right of this picture is some displays, one of which is a jaw bone of a humpback whale. When in the area, this lighthouse is a must see!

| Located close to Florence Oregon. What more can one say about this lighthouse that the pictures don't. By far, this is my favorite lighthouse of both coast. The view of this lighthouse and the view from this lighthouse can't be matched. It takes a little bit of walking to go from the beach area up to the lighthouse but the walk is well worth the effort. (additional information) |
Yaquina Head LighthouseYaquina Head Lighthouse is located close to Newport and is the tallest lighthouse in Oregon at over 90 feet tall. Off the point in front of the lighthouse, just a mere 100 yards I saw two whales feeding the day I was there. |
