From 1950-1962 our father was in the Army and we moved quite a bit.  We lived in Arkansas, Missouri, Texas and Augsburg, Germany.
After dad retired from the Army we moved to the  NW Arkansas, NE Oklahoma area and I stayed there from 1962-1970.

After one year at the University of Arkansas  I went into the Marine Corps; 1970-1972. I served in California, Virginia, Okinawa, Philippines and Viet Nam.
After military service I attended Northeast Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. In late 1973 I married a wonderful young girl and we were married for five years. We divorced in 1978 because we had different goals. While in college I worked full time jobs to pay my way through college. Between the time I started college at NSU and my graduation in 1982 some of my jobs included: Cross country truck drive, Parts manager for a manufacturing, Engineering Aide for the Soil Conservation Service, Police Dispatcher and Police Officer. I also joined the Arkansas National Guard in an Artillery unit. In 1975 I went to Officers Candidate School and was commissioned in 1976.
After college I worked for Wal Mart Inc as an Internal Auditor from 1983 to 1986. In 1986 I took a full time position with the National Guard as the commander of an Artillery Battery and Battalion Staff Officer. In 1988 I was promoted to Major and sent to the Little Rock area. My position was the Program Manager for the Military Department for Counter Drug Operations for the state of Arkansas. I retired from the National Guard in 1994.

In 1994 I went to work for the National Guard Association of Arkansas, Inc as an Insurance agent and computer system analyst. I worked in that position until 1999 when I accepted a position with the State of Arkansas in the Bureau of Legislative Research as a PC Support Tech.
